The CPC restored Chen Duxiu's status as the founder of the CPC and rehabilitated him with the TV series “The Age of Awakening”
 

2019年是陈独秀诞辰一百四十周年，也是毛泽东在《湘江评论》上首次提出“陈独秀万岁”一百周年。应陈独秀曾孙陈恩田（世界和平丝带组织第一届至第八届委员会主席）的请求，中共首次以官方名义撰写了一篇客观公正的纪念文章，在全国党媒党刊上发表，标题是《纪念陈独秀诞辰一百四十周年》。

The year 2019 marks the 140th anniversary of Chen Duxiu's birth and the 100th anniversary of Mao Zedong's first mention of “Long live Chen Duxiu” in the newspaper Xiangjiang Review. In the same year, at the request of Chen Entian, great-grandson of Chen Duxiu (Chairman of the First to Eighth Committees of the World Peace Ribbon Organization), the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the first time wrote an objective and impartial commemorative article in its official capacity, which was published in the CPC media under the title Commemoration of the 140th Anniversary of Chen Duxiu's Birth.

这篇纪念文章对陈独秀的功过是非进行了客观公正的梳理，并对陈独秀作为中共创始人的地位等进行了五大认定：第一，认定陈独秀是新文化运动的精神领袖；第二，认定陈独秀是五四运动的总司令；第三，认定陈独秀是马克思主义的主要传播者；第四，认定陈独秀是中共主要创始人；第五，认定陈独秀是中共早期主要领导人。以上五条完全恢复了陈独秀作为中共创始人的地位，回顾过去，中共官方习惯称陈独秀是主要创始人“之一”和早期主要领导人“之一”，网上的资料包括百科词条几乎都有“之一”表述，但这篇纪念文章则首次删除了“之一”。事实上，陈独秀从1915年创办《青年杂志》（翌年改名为《新青年》，以此团结青年，觉醒国人，开始孕育中共，1920年诞生了事实上的中共，1921年举行第一次代表大会，确认中共成立，陈独秀先后担任第一届至第五届最高领导人，为此奋斗12余年，直到1927年离开最高领导岗位。“之一”表述显然是有意削弱陈独秀作为创始人的核心地位。这种表述一旦成为定论后，党内一般人绝对不敢修改，只有最高审阅者可以修改。为此，陈独秀的曾孙陈恩田在世界日报等国际媒体发表答谢文章《中共纪念陈独秀体现英明形象和伟大胸怀》。

This commemorative article gives an objective and fair account of Chen Duxiu's merits and demerits, and clarifies the five identities of Chen Duxiu. First, it identified Chen Duxiu as the spiritual leader of the New Culture Movement; Second, it identified Chen Duxiu as the commander-in-chief of the May Fourth Movement; Third, it identifies Chen Duxiu as the main propagator of Marxism; Fourth, it identifies Chen Duxiu as the main founder of the CPC; and Fifth, it identifies Chen Duxiu as the main early leader of the CPC. The above five identities fully restored Chen Duxiu's status as the founder of the CPC. In retrospect, it is customary for CPC officials to refer to Chen Duxiu as “one of the main founders” and “one of the main leaders” of the early period. The expression “one of” is almost always found on the Internet, including in wikipedia entries, but was deleted for the first time in this commemorative article. In fact, Chen Duxiu founded the Youth Magazine (later renamed New Youth) in 1915 as a way to unite the youth and awaken the nation, and began to nurture the CPC. The CPC held its first congress in 1921, marking the founding of the CPC. Chen Duxiu served as the top leader of the CPC from the first to the fifth terms, and until he left the top leadership in 1927, he fought for the cause of the CPC for more than 12 years. The expression “one of” is obviously intended to undermine the importance of Chen Duxiu as the founder. Once this expression has become a verdict, ordinary members of the Party will never dare to amend it, and only the top leaders can do so. For this reason, Chen Entian, the great-grandson of Chen Duxiu, published a thank-you article in the international media, including the World Journal, titled “CPC's Memorialization of Chen Duxiu Reflects CPC's Wise Image and Greatness of Mind”.

2021年是中共诞辰一百周年，中国中央电视台播出电视剧《觉醒年代》，重点讲述陈独秀留学归国，觉醒国人，开党奠基的历程，剧中出现陈独秀的两个烈士儿子、中共早期领导人延乔兄弟，更是让人感动落泪，观众方知陈氏父子三人原来是铁骨铮铮的大英雄。

2021 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of the CPC. China Central Television (CCTV) aired the TV series “The Age of Awakening”, focusing on Chen Duxiu's return from his studies, awakening the nation, and laying the groundwork for the establishment of the CPC. This TV series tells the heroic story of Chen Duxiu's two martyred sons (brothers Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian, early leaders of the CPC), which moved the audience to tears. It was then that the audience realized that the three Chen father and sons turned out to be great heroes with strong wills.

黑白颠倒的岁月，陈独秀和许多优秀革命家一样，遭到污蔑，甚至被冠以所谓叛徒之名。陈独秀创党事实不容篡改，今天的中共领导集体本着实事求是的精神，尊重党史，让真相大白于天下，不仅发表《纪念陈独秀诞辰一百四十周年》的文章，恢复陈独秀作为中共主要创始人的地位，还以电视剧《觉醒年代》为陈独秀正名，令天下人拍案叫好。

In the years when right and wrong were hard to distinguish, Chen Duxiu, like many outstanding revolutionaries, was vilified and even labeled as a so-called traitor. The facts of Chen Duxiu's founding of the Party cannot be tampered with, and today's CPC leadership, in the spirit of seeking truth from facts, respects the Party's history and lets the truth come out. The CPC not only published an article entitled “Commemoration of the 140th Anniversary of Chen Duxiu's Birth” to restore CHEN Duxiu's status as the main founder of the CPC, but also restored CHEN Duxiu's reputation with the TV series “The Age of Awakening”, which was applauded by all the people in the world.
