Three months ago, we visited a Chinese oven factory in Zhongshan that was struggling to survive the fallout from Trump's trade war. Back then, the warehouse was overflowing with unsellable stock, orders were frozen, and uncertainty loomed large.
Then came a 90-day tariff pause — a temporary relief negotiated between Beijing and Washington. Business resumed almost overnight.
Now, as the pause approaches its August 12 deadline, factory owners face tough decisions. Should they ramp up production? Find new markets? Or hold back in fear of another tariff spike?
In this episode of China Xplained, we revisit the same factory to see what's changed, and what hasn't.
How are China's factories adapting? And what does this mean for the future of "Made in China"? In today's China Xplained, we'll find out.
