As invited by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Kövér László, the speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, and his delegation visited China from November 5 to 12.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary. Earlier this year, China and Hungary also decided to enhance bilateral relations to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era when Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban paid his visit to China.
On June 27, 2024, Guangzhoulaunched a new direct flight to Budapest, making Guangzhouthe fifth city with direct flights between Hungary and China. There has been a rise in personnel and economic and trade exchanges ever since.
China is Hungary's largest trading partner outside Europe, and Hungary is one of China's most important trading partners in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2023, two-way trade reached 14.52 billion U.S. dollars. Among them, China's exports to Hungary reached 9.79 billion U.S. dollars, and imports from Hungary reached 4.73 billion U.S. dollars.
China and Hungary registered remarkable trade volumes, predominantly in sectors with high added value, including electromechanical and high-tech products. Four major fields, namely motors, electrical equipment and spare parts, boilers, mechanical appliances and spare parts, vehicles and spare parts, optics, photography, medical equipment, and spare parts, account for more than 80% of bilateral trade.
The visit carries great significance in deepening the bilateral relationship. Hungary seeks to carry out more cooperation with the Greater Bay Area, a high-tech highland in China, in the fields of science, technology, culture, and trade.
